Sean Burns Eclat edit

I have known Sean for along time and watched him grow up. Dude is beyond rad. One of the nicest people I know and is single handedly making BMX awesome again. My hats off to him.

Ice/snow

With well over a foot of snowpack on the ground, it's easy to say I'm going nuts with boredom. Seriously it needs to warm up asap. Or I need to get on the next plane going southwest.

Brakes?!

not so sure this is possible brakeless

my setup:brakes
So many people have asked me to address the whole no brakes deal in BMX and to be honest with you, I really can't hate on it. I understand and respect it. Although I would never ride my bike without em'. I can honestly say that I understand the appeal of it all. I do like the way a bike looks without brakes, lever, and cable. I can also see having a simpler setup. But that doesn't make me wanna take them off by any means.  For some people brakes are far too mechanical and they seem to always have problems with them. I've also been told that some people like the challenge, I can see that. I'm just not one of those people. Besides I like to skid and do too many stalls with em. I know it's possible without but I'm too old to go and relearn all those things again. Plus shoes are expensive these days! So with that said brakes or not, ride your bikes however you want....who really cares? Not this guy.

Hingham skatepark revisted

Those of you that have Facebook, which I think is probably everyone in the world at this point? If your not aware I started a petition on there to try and help me in my fight to get bikes allowed into the newly built Hingham skatepark built in eastern Ma. I plan to try and talk to the town and get bikes in there this year. I think everyone knows my feelings on this crazy "no bikes" rule. With this being the first decent park built on the south shore, I feel it's more than important to make a stand before any other towns pop up and build something else worth riding and follow Hingham's lead. So help me and yourself out sign this and get others to sign it as well http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/bikesinhingham

With winter really bearing down on us, I'm left with alot of free time on my hands. Less time on my bike means more idle time in front of a computer screen with less content than I would ever have in the warm weather.I've been trying to complain less and be positive. I decided that BMX has enough negativity in it. So I'm gonna try and stay on that path. With alot of plans in the works, the Spring/Summer is shaping up to be just insane with riding and filming. The shop video needs to come to life this year with a collective effort of everyone that's involved. Without all their help I fear that it won't happen. This is my number one goal for 2011. When I agreed to do this video I never realized just how much work was gonna be involved in the process, but you live and learn....I guess. With a good start we really need to get shit rolling once the weather breaks. Hoping this year I can get everyone that said they wanted to film to actually do so. Never believed that it would be like pulling teeth to get some dudes motivated to actually ride there bike for a DVD. Oh well this year I have a new outlook on it and am not gonna hunt dudes down...if they wanna film then they'll be apart if not more room for the ones who do. Just need for this snow to melt and the temps to rise and we are a go. Above photos are from some of our filming adventures of 2010...

Joe and Ruben train trip

Most of you may have already seen this, but it's so good I had to post it up. John Maul and I went to last years bicycle film festival and saw this and the FBM "I Love my Bicycle" both are really good. If you haven't seen it, it's worth the watch.

Andover, Ma follow up

So I emailed the head of the Andover skatepark and he told me that there's no bikes.LAME! Place actually looks like it's one the best concrete parks around. He replied the following: Without getting too deep into a debate, our park draws a considerable amount of young skaters and only one or two bikes over the last few years. After our new concrete section was put in this summer, we decided to not allow bikes in order to preserve the integrity of the bowl for a longer period of time (pegs&steel  vs concrete = chipped surfaces). Our focus of the park is serving the local kids and there wasn’t any negative feedback about not allowing bikes.

As an organization that serves young people, we are always looking for ways to keep kids engaged in positive activities. If there were enough kids interested, we would do a trail bike day – although I’m not sure it would be at the skatepark.

Where are you from, Tony? What is going on for bikers in your community?:

This makes me believe that this town actually gives a shit about this park and what kids are doing there. Although they don't allow bikes I feel like they would be open to it with some demand. If I lived closer to this park I'd be all over it. He and I went back and forth with a few more emails, but nothing ever became of it. Note that he still threw in about pegs, why does everyone think this? Really have they not seen what trucks do to coping? Oh well on to the next!
