3 1/2 hours in CT.
Funny thing about New England weather you can never really predict it. I went to sleep last night thinking that I wasn't gonna ride at all today, only to wake up to a completely different forecast. So all the plans I had cancelled from the previous day were all of a sudden back on. A few of the people that were gonna go said that they weren't able to so only a small group of us went today. Having cancelled plans too made me have a pretty limited schedule today so I made no calls to anyone except the people I made the plans with. I instantly knew there was only one place I really wanted to check out, Baltic. I had been looking at pictures of this little park for months and I had gotten a tip that there was an added bonus nearby...a fullpipe! So off we went JT, King, and I were out the door later than I would have liked, but none the less we were gonna ride on a day that was supposed to be 70 percent chance of rain. After Baltic we decided to hit up the Killingly park, we had sessioned a few weeks earlier and I haven't stopped thinking about going back since. I can't say enough good things about this park. The following are pictures that JT and myself snapped from the day. I will be back down there soon!

Random thoughts
Lately I've been thinking alot about riding and I'm not even sure where to begin. Do I start by start by saying that it has defined who I am as a person, or say that pretty much every single friend I have is because of it. Even say that everything I have I owe to bicycles in one way or another. Maybe I tell you that riding is more of a lifestyle than a sport? I guess you could say that it has impacted my life more than anything else has.
To this day I get that same feeling every time I set foot on that little kids bike. The feeling of freedom and excitement, yet scared shitless all at once. Someday's I hold on for dear life and some days I'm the one in control, kinda like life in general? Don't ya think? As the years go by I have less and less time to actually get out there on my bike, but I tell you what every time I do I have just as much fun as the guys that ride daily. For sure I'm not anywhere near as "good" as I once was, and have lost more tricks over the years than I can count. But I could care less as long as I'm having fun.
These days every time I get on my bike I make it count, got a "mission" lined up for almost every session. In the last few months I've ridden more new spots than I have in the last 2 years. Lining up spot after spot for my days off of work. Me and a small crew are usually trekking all over the place to get an adventure in. To me some of the best spots are the ones that take the most work and are off the beatin path sorta speak. Looking back at these spots makes me appreciate them so much more. I can always say man look at that and we rode it...crazy. From weird set-ups to fullpipes to new parks or whatever. It's all good. So where am I going with all this rambling? Well I guess I'm saying that some of the best times in my life are spent with my bike and the friends I've made riding it. I'd also saying that as I get older I face the fact more and more that someday I may not have that outlet any longer and that scares the crap out of me more than anything ever has before. I'm staring down the barrel of a gun. So I've been trying to make every last second count. I'm sure I have plenty more years left, but then again who knows? Just something that I think anyone that's been pedaling for 25+ years would agree with. To me there will never be anything that could take it's place and fill it's void.
Which leads me to my next point, with all these years of riding under my belt I feel like I have so much I want to give back and I've been thinking about different projects to share my bicycle knowledge. This being one of them. I'm kind of at a junction in life where I feel like I could be doing more, but what? Something that would involve me in bikes but satisfy my need to ride......hmmmmmm? Who the hell knows? This is the most personal thing I think I've ever written on here. Inside the random thoughts in my head. Not sure what's next on the road of life for this old guy but I'm strapped in for the long haul........I guess that's enough outta me for now?

Bikes according to Moe V3
This is another volume from my longtime friend Moe. This time he's writing about....well I guess I'll just let ya read it for yourself, here goes:
The reason we ride.
The other day I was driving to a friends house and I spotted a kid riding his bike ,the look on his face said everything! He had a smile and was just pedaling and trying to bunnyhop and boost some curbs. I had a flashback to when I was twelve and rode everywhere even if there was no purpose but to get away and pedal . The older I got the more those rides meant something, a session at a friends house or a spot that we all knew to meet up at. The ride to the spots was always more fun just because you knew the one going home meant the day was over and it was back to school, but sitting in class I couldn't think of anything else I wanted to do but run home get my bike and ride!
Riding has always meant a lot to me and to this day still does, its more than exercise its a form of self accomplishment that you just don't get with other sports(well for me at least) . I sometimes think about what goes through peoples minds when the y ride- is it for fun? Do the do it to impress people? How many kids will start riding bmx today, tomorrow whenever, get a car go to highschool or college and continue to do such a simple thing? Sometimes we get lost in a lot of things as we get older and the bike gets put in the basement or the garage and forgotten, but for some of us it doesn't! It's like a best friend that never goes away! It's there to help us get our frustrations out, take us for a spin down the road and to remind us you never do forget!!!
I've been doing this for so long I can't imagine anything else that would top it. The best part about riding is it brings people together and we learn from each other. Such a simple thing has helped me make new friends across the country, learn things about myself I wouldn't have doing other sports and taught me how to express myself. The amount of riding I do now is a lot less but its still the same ole feeling I used to get when I was younger. It's more the quality of the ride and at times I find myself like that kid riding down the street jumping curb cuts and doing manuals, for me it's about the pure enjoyment. There are no coaches,no rules just me and my bike. Brings a smile to my face everytime! Why do you ride?

Bio: Josh King
Josh King is probably one of the most underated guys that ride BMX bikes around the area. I have had the pleasure of watching him grow up and become one hell of a bike rider. Josh is one of the most humble dudes I know, and he's always down for whatever. He has been coming to the shop for as long as I can remember and recently even has started working there. Ask anyone that rides or has ridden with him,(myself included) and they will say that he has the best attitude and is one of the funnest people to watch ride. The dude has a ton of tricks up his sleeve and is always got something new and different he's doing. Lately it's become more and more apparent to me that Josh should get alittle more notice than what he's been getting, so I decided we'd do a quick bio. I've never been one to follow formats and every bio I do is gonna be different from the rest. I feel like it should vary depending on the person. So I asked Josh to give us a rundown of where he works and lives then write a brief summary of what he likes about riding and what it means to him. I think everyone could stand to learn something from what he had to say. Without further adieu. Special thanks to JT Ahl for the pictures.
Work: I work at the best place ever DICK MAULS BIKE SHOP!
Residence: I'm living in North Providence, RI
Bicycles: Riding bikes is about going on adventures with your friends and having fun, So if you're not having fun, you're doing something wrong... As long as I’m having fun on my bike it doesn’t matter where I’m riding it. Having the right people to ride with definitely helps the good times too, that’s why I’m glad I have so many chill people to ride with. There’s nothing better than just messing around on a curb or something with your friends. And as much as I love riding myself, I really just enjoy being outside pedaling around and watching other people get rad too! I get just as psyched watching someone pull a cool maneuver as I do when I pull one myself. Go pedal and have fun!!!

T&F CT. Trip
For the past few weeks my old friend Vic and I have been trying to get trip out to Connecticut to check out some of the parks that are out there. After a few weeks of back and forth with planning we finally decided on a day. So myself, Burroughs, and JT headed down to Providence to meet up with him and Nick Ferreira. Pumped to get to ride with these guys, been way too long since I've cruised with them so no matter what the parks looked like I knew that the day was gonna be good. First stop for us was a small park in Killingsly CT. This park was super rad, tight little place with a ton of flow and lines galore. I was blown away at how simple the setup was yet fun. From there we headed over to The Daily Grind which is an amazing bike, skate shop over in Danielson. The place is packed with goods and looked so nice very organized. Chuck from the place is a super awesome guy and he gave us directions to the next park on our little adventure. The second park we hit up was in Davison CT. This park was like a race track. Place was set up to go around making it very interesting. I've never ridden a park quite like it. Fun little place, if your in that area I'd say stop and give it a few runs.
After that park we decided to give riding a rest and head back into Pawtucket to check out Vic's shop Circuit Bmx. Wow is all I can say the place looks super rad. Everything so neat and very well displayed. Stocked to the hilt with everything you could ever need for your BMX bike. We hung out there for a bit and then decided to head home. Good day overall! Check out the pics that myself, Burroughs, and JT shot.
